Argosy Casino holiday donation makes a difference for teens at Synergy Services
|
Argosy employees, their “sleigh” filled with items wanted and needed by teens living at one of Synergy Services shelters, made a holiday delivery Monday, December 17 at the not-for-profit’s Synergy House, a local crisis shelter for teens.
We are extremely proud of the 1,000-plus employees at Argosy; they truly embraced the spirit of the holidays “with their hearts and hands,” extending their generosity to assist the teens at Synergy Services. Employees “adopted” all paper ornaments adorning a holiday tree in less than one week. The ornaments had wanted and needed items written on them. Argosy employees understand the meaning of “Synergy,” which refers to many forces working together to accomplish more than any one of the forces could accomplish alone. Through our giving, we will become part of Synergy Services’ efforts. Working together we will make a better life for the youth of Synergy Services.
“Synergy House staff is overwhelmed by Argosy’s generosity, said Rachel Francis, Synergy Services Youth Services program manager. “The donations are wonderful and will be loved by the youth. We are so grateful for the donations. The generous donations will provide something for all Synergy House youth on Christmas Day. Thank you for making this a reality.”
Synergy House Emergency Youth Shelter, the only shelter of its kind serving western Missouri, is a facility that provides emergency shelter services to youth 12 to 18 years of age. Youth receiving shelter are runaway, homeless, abandoned, placed by their parents, or have been removed from their homes by the Missouri Children’s Division due to abuse and neglect. The goal of Synergy House is to return the child to the safest living environment following discharge. This may lead to reunification with the family, placement with another relative, foster care, group home living, or independent living.
For 2007, Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa pledged $10,000 to Synergy Services. The funds include $7,200 to assist Synergy Services provide meals for residents at their shelters which include: Synergy House, Safe Haven of Clay County and the Children’s Center. The sum also reflects in-kind contributions collected from Argosy employees during the three needs drives in 2007.
